Location:     Pichincha

Founded:     28 th January, 1966

Area Size:     3,383 hectares: 8,359.27 acres

Altitude Range :     1,800-3,356 metres: 5,905.80- 11,011.04 feet

Admission Fee:     US $5

   DESCRIPTION

From its interior on the flat plains which house a community dedicated to agricultural activity, three elevations can be clearly observed: el Pondona, el Chivo and el Pan de Azucar. The adjacent zones are small elevations, whose slopes are covered in vegetation up to the crater, creating such a fertile terrain that the area has been declared as a geo-botanic Reserve – the only one that exists in Ecuador .

It’s extremely typical to see Puluahua clouded over. This is a result of warm air currents coming from the basin of River Guayllabamba from the coast, which collide with the area0s cold fronts regularly producing mist throughout the day.
