Getting there
   GETTING THERE

There are two main access routes to the Reserve from branch roads off the Quito-Calacali road. The first route of access is situated approximately 4 km away from the Mitad del Mundo monument in Caspigasi; a paved path leads to the Ventanillas viewpoint where there is a steep pathway leading to the crater’s interior.

The other access route is situated near Calacali. A route near Tilingon leads to the Reserve’s control point and to the Maraspungo recreational area. From here it’s possible to continue to follow this route by car, descending towards the crater’s interior or the outskirts of Cerro Pondora and its picturesque agricultural surroundings. It’s also possible to arrive at the northeast of the Reserve at Niebli and visit its fantastic cloud forest.
