Lakes
Jatuncocha
and
Garzacocha
are
particularly
attractive
for
the
flora
and
fauna
present,
which
is
characteristic
of
the
area.
River
Yasuni
is
perfect
if
wishing
to
observe
pink
dolphins.
It’s
possible
to
access
River
Tiputini
relatively
easily
and
the
scenery
along
the
way
is
spectacular.
This
route
also
leads
to
Nuevo
Rocafuerte.
Lake
Anango
is
known
for
its
attractive
scenery.
There
is
a
pathway
from
the
Quichua
community
of
Anango
leading
to
the
lake.
By
foot
it
takes
around
an
hour
and
a
half
to
get
there,
or
access
is
also
possible
by
boat.
By
navigating
river
Shiripuno,
Tinguino
and
Cononaco,
the
exotic
and
extraordinary
landscape
can
be
enjoyed.
Just
like
the
other
rivers
in
the
Park,
River
Curaray
is
a
main
attraction
along
with
the
small
lakes
housing
a
high
level
of
biodiversity.
Just
outside
the
Park’s
borders
is
the
community
of
San
Jose
de
Curaray
which
can
be
accessed
by
air.
This
community
is
well
known
for
its
production
of
artisan
crafts
sold
within
and
outside
the
Park.
Pompeya
Archaelogical
Museum
This
is
in
fact
a
part
of
Limoncocha
Biological
Reserve
which
is
located
four
hours
away
from
Coca
or
tow
hours
if
arriving
by
boat
from
River
Napo.
It’s
worth
visiting
to
see
the
range
of
artefacts
housed
here.
Pompeya
(Puerto
de
Palos)
There
is
a
trade
fair
every
weekend
in
Pompeya,
which
is
of
particular
interest
to
tourists
wishing
to
purchase
hand-made
products
and
crafts
the
zone
has
to
offer.
Nuevo
Rocafuerte
This
sector
houses
the
river
bains
and
lakes
which
are
easily
accessed.
This
is
the
perfect
place
to
observe
the
zone’s
biodiversity.
Lake
Panacocha
Situated
just
outside
the
National
Park’s
northern
borders,
Lake
Panacocha
receives
a
constant
flow
of
visitors.
The
lake
is
extremely
large
and
nearby
there
stands
a
gigantic
‘ceibo’
tree
which
has
transformed
itself
into
a
natural
observatory
from
which
the
adjacent
landscape
can
be
appreciated.

Yasuni

PUCE
(Yasuni
Research
Station)
The
Yasuni
Research
Station,
which
is
situated
inside
the
Park
on
the
banks
of
the
River
Tiputini,
is
an
investigative
centre
belonging
to
the
Pontifical
Catholic
University
and
was
established
in
1993.
With
a
capacity
to
house
up
to
50
research
specialists,
its
principle
function
is
to
carry
out
botanical
studies
in
order
to
learn
more
about
the
area’s
floral
species.

Biodiversity
Station)
Tipuntini
Biodiversity
Station
belongs
to
Quito
’s
San
Francisco
University
and
is
located
just
outside
of
the
Park’s
borders
on
the
northern
banks
of
the
River
Tiputini.
Founded
in
1994,
the
Station
houses
research
rooms,
labs,
a
herbarium,
accommodation
for
visiting
students
and
an
observation
tower.
The
Station
is
dedicated
to
the
research
of
specific
topics
which
aim
to
serve
a
wide
range
of
interests.
