FESTIVALS
La Fiesta de
la Purisima,

Macas,
takes place
on: 18 of February
and 15th of
August. There
are also civic
celebrations
such as the
29th May, commemorating
the foundation
of Macas.
There is also
a twice-yearly
Amazonian Integration
fair.
TRADITIONAL
FOODS
Ayampaco,
prepared with
beef, chicken
or fish and
wrapped in
plantain leaf.
Meats: guanta,
guatusa,
armadillo,
animals native
to the region.
Chicha
de yuca,
a ceremonial
drink with
yucca.
Guayusa
infusion,
has healing
properties.
