Geography
This
is the southernmost
province of
the Orient
and has an
irregular
topography.
The territory
is narrow
with western
elevations
along the
Andes cordillera.
Most important
foothills
include: Yacuambi,
Zamora , Numbala,
Caluna and
Vergel.
Climate
The
climate is
tropical and
humid with
average temperatures
of between
22 and 25
degrees centigrade.
Thee zone
is subjected
to heavy rainfall
and the humidity
level is high.
Annual rainfall
averages 1907mm.
Rivers
Zamora
is the area’s
principle
river which
originates
along the
sierra and
being joined
by various
tributaries.
Rivers Numbala,
Loyola and
Jibaro are
located towards
the south
which form
the origins
of river Chinchipe.
