from Pimampiro
is Sigsigpamba.
There's no
accommodation
available,
and only a
few basic
shops, but
the village
provides the
best access
to the Puruanta
lake
- a dramatic
four to five
hour hike.
The lake is
set between
the high paramo
with charming
surroundings
for camping
and trout
fishing. Avoid
hiking in
the rainy
season [November
to May].
The Mariano
Acosta
village is
nearby.
