Description: Ecuador's capital, Quito - the name itself resonates with wonder and romance - designated by UNESCO as a World Cultural Heritage Site, is regarded as the most beautiful and stylish city in the Andes. Visiting Quito at night is a unique experience. The colonial centre light's up to the spirits of the past as we drive through the narrow streets of down town Quito, enjoying romantic legends of the city's early days, while sipping the famous hot cinnamon drink "canelazo".
Our tour ends with a visit to the recently open Casa Museo Maria Augusta Urrutia, that allows modern-day visitors to envision what it must have been like to live in a 19th-century Spanish-style mansion in the Old Town.
The interior of this house is unbelievable, featuring antique European furniture, a bed that belonged to General Sucre, hand-painted wallpaper, stained-glass windows, handcrafted mouldings, murals on the walls, and Belgian tiles. There is also an incredible collection of Ecuadorian art. and a fine restaurant where a delicious dinner will await for us.
